We invite submissions to Living Toronto about posts you have read here, about topics listed or about something we’ve missed relating to Toronto. Please take some time to read through our journal to familiarize yourself with its style and voice and follow the guidelines below. Your submission should:
- Be relevant to the readers of this journal.
- Be grammatically correct and well written.
- Not include marketing-related links and must not be entirely self-promotional
- If appropriate, include links to your website and blog in a brief author’s bio (approximately 3 sentences) which will be published on our contributors page and/or at the end of the submission.
- Be original and may not have been published elsewhere online already. All submissions will be verified for originality using a tool such as Copyscape.com or Plagium.com.
- Be submitted in Word. If you do not use Word, include your text in the body of your email.
Length can vary depending on the type of submission. For our “Going Out”, “Staying In” and “What’s Here” sections, length can be 300-1000 words. Feature articles for our specific themed issues can be much longer – sometimes up to a few thousand words.
Photos are encouraged with submissions and should be included whenever possible. The photo format should be: jpg, 72 dpi, 1MB max. Submitted photos should be your original work or have permission of the copyright holder.
Editorial Process: We will acknowledge receipt of your submission and notify you if it is accepted and when it will be published. All accepted submissions are edited for clarity, grammar and spelling. Unless the editor has specific questions about your submission, you will not be asked to approve our edits.
Please send submissions to: livingtorontojournal{at}gmail.com.
